One question I get asked often is, "Why are there chocolate chip cookies on the Massachusetts floral swaddle?" Since tomorrow is National Chocolate Chip Day, I thought it was the perfect time to share the reason why I included chocolate chip cookies on this design.
When researching Massachusetts, I learned that chocolate chip cookies were invented in Whitman, Massachusetts by Ruth Graves Wakefield, owner of the Tollhouse Inn. I thought that was a fun fact.
And while chocolate chip cookies might not be the first thing most people think of when they think of Massachusetts (My husband, Jeff was born and raised there and didn't know this tidbit until I added it to this swaddle design.), it is one of the first things my kids think of when they think of Massachusetts.
That's because every time we visit Jeff's family, my kids bake chocolate chip cookies with their Nonnie. I've got pictures and videos of them baking with her throughout the years. It's one of the things that makes their visits to Massachusetts special. It's one of the things that make Massachusetts special to them.
I always jump at the chance to add a personal connection to a swaddle. And I hope that when you look at the Massachusetts Floral design, you find a connection too. :)
